A Misty Oceanside Surprise Proposal

A Rainy, Joyful Surprise Proposal at Solana Beach in Northern San Diego, California

What was supposed to be a a classic beachside proposal in San Diego, California turned into something even more memorable. As the rain came down and plans changed, Luke's proposal became even more of a surprise to Thali.

The original plan was to propose on the sand at Solana Beach, but an hour before the moment happened the misty skies rolled in. We pivoted our plan to have the moment happen halfway down the beach stairs until Thali, hesitant to leave the car in the downpour, finally stepped out. Luke ended up proposing right at the top of the steps and the moment couldn't have been more joyful.

Family members who had been hiding behind the foliage rushed out to surprise her afterward, bringing hugs, tears, and laughter (after we realized Thali's ring was on the wrong finger). We still made it down to the beach for some windswept, romantic engagement photos.

The night ended with a surprise engagement party at Thali’s parents’ house, where more loved ones gathered to dance, eat, and celebrate.

I think the rain has its way of changing our plans to make them even more special. Especially on this day with Luke & Thali.
